 History of Women's Team Canada

The first Women’s World Championship took place in 2007 in Dusseldorf, Germany during the Men's Senior WC, featuring national teams from Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, and USA.  The 2nd WWC was held in Pilsen, Czech Republic in June 2009, which saw Greece participate for the first time, and Canada claim the title once again.  The 3rd WWC was held in Bratislava, Slovakia in June 2011 and once again there was a strong group of particpates with the home team of Slovakia taking the gold and Canada settling for Silver.

The WWC was born through the efforts of the 2005 WC hosts in Pittsburgh, USA, who provided the first invitational Women’s World Cup that included Slovakia, Switzerland, USA, and three teams from Canada.  That event was followed up the next year by Martin, Slovakia hosting the second invitational World Cup.
