2014 Western Regionals Men's D Champs - Ragina Crushers

The 2014 Western Canadian Regional Championhips were hosted this past weekend in the prairie city of Regina, Saskatchewan.
With four teams vying for the championship we had some great round robin and playoff games. The Ragina Crushers went 2-0-1 in the round robin to finish first and get a by directly the final. The Edmonton Black Aces finishing second with a 2-1 record and home province team Lloydminster Monsters finishing third with these teams advancing to the semi finals. Calgary YDP finished 4th and were eliminated from playoff action.
The semi final had the Edmonton Black Aces face Lloydminster Monsters. The first period saw only one goal at the 6:11 mark by the Lloydmonster Monsters while the Black Aces sucessfully kiiled off 2 penalties. The second period saw a battle and penalty filled between these evenly matched teams. Neither team was able to out the ball in the net in the second frame and the Lloydminster Monsters held on to a 1-0 win to moe on to the Gold Medal game.
The championship game featured the hometown Ragina Crushers vs. Lloydminster Monsters. The Crushers took advantage of a tired Lloydminster team by striking early in the game and often throughout the rest of the game for a 7-0 win to capture the Men's D Division title.
