Posting for Junior Team Canada Physiotherapists

The Canadian Ball Hockey Association’s Junior Team Canada Program has set the standards in the world with the way we present ourselves on and off the floor. A big contributor to this profile is our Physiotherapists dedication to the teams.

Our program has won 7 of 9 junior worlds in the last three trips (2008, 2010 and 2012). The travel consists of a pre-tournament training camp, the tournament and flight travel to and from Europe.

In order to keep 66 minor players from various centres in Canada on their toes and mobile for the travel and the tournament, we are looking for an experienced physiotherapist, preferably with hockey background for the program next June2014. The chosen candidate will need to be available for travel between June 17th and July 3rd,2014 (but not necessarily that entire length).

We have three teams traveling (U16, U18 and U20) – in the past we had a Physio for U20 and a Physio for the combined U16&U18 teams, our budgets and cities of travel will decide what we do this trip. This is not a paid position but all your travel costs, meals and apparel is covered.

Responsibilities of the Physiotherapist:

• Compiles and maintains inventory for all supplies for the team.
• Collects all supplies prior to travel within budget.
• Review all supplied player medical history information.
• Responsible for helping to maintain player health, including prevention and care of musculoskeletal injury; 
  Coordinating car with other members of support team such as the MD and/or Massage Therapist.
• Outline an EAP for on site use
• Set up and maintain physio rooms at training camp and tournament in a proper JTC manner.
• Assist when possible the EM for all water bottles, including water hand outs at hotel
• Part of support staff supervision of players on and off floor, including sightseeing outings.
• On the bench for all team games.

Qualifications:

• Be competent in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in sport.
• Be competent in taping, splinting techniques
• Certified as a First Responder or CPR and First Aid 
• Laying out and responsible for physio room in a clean and orderly JTC manner. 
• Knowledge of hockey.
• Ability to travel the dates outlined.
• Ability to attend pre travel email and conference call communications.
• All costs when traveling with the team will be covered or reimbursed as seen.
