2020 Men's Masters Team Canada Announcement

2020-01-13

The CBHA is proud to announce 2020 Men's Masters Team Canada...

The past experiences at the Worlds in Tampa Bay in 2014, in Banff in 2016, in Bermuda in 2018 and at the Nationals in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 2019 guided us to select our roster. Every team that competed this past August in St. John’s had at least one player that was invited to represent Team Canada. General Manager Francois Chalut says that “With a record of teams competing at the Masters nationals in 2019, it has never been as difficult as this year to make the team. It has never been as difficult for us to select the players either since there were so many great athletes competing in Newfoundland. I would like to congratulate all the players that were considered to make this team but especially these twenty-three outstanding athletes on their selection on Masters Team Canada 2020.” We selected a team that will be talented, intense, physical, fast and strong at every position. Forwards, defensemen and the goaltenders will give everything they got to compete for the coveted gold medal.

Together, veterans and recruits will form a new family that will find what it takes to defend the world championship won in Bermuda. The quest for the gold has already started.

Goaltenders:
Claude Fortin, Montreal, Quebec (Montreal Machine)
Darren Lodge, Winnipeg, Manitoba (Alberta Havoc)
Chevy Platt, Oshawa, Ontario (Ottawa Capitals)

Forwards:
Terry Ryan, Mount Pearl, Newfoundland (NL Colonial Masters Selects)
Jeremy Bishop, Corner Brook, Newfoundland (NL Colonial Masters Selects)
Ryan Delaney, Clarke’s Beach, Newfoundland (NL Colonial Masters Selects)

Masters Team Canada 2020 is also proud to announce that Doug McCarthy has been named once again as Head Coach.
With his passion, preparation, dedication and knowledge of the game, he is the leader we need to defend our title.

Masters Team Canada players will be in good hands with Doug McCarthy. To him, “Hockey is more than a game, it is a way of life, one must remember the enjoyment comes first, the competition increases the enjoyment”. So the athletes playing for him will have fun and will give everything they have when they compete. Doug is humbled to have been inducted into the Canadian Ball Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006.

The new addition to our staff is Justin d’Entremont who will be an assistant coach. Justin played for the Saskatoon Buffalo (Men's A) at the nationals in 2019 and was coaching Team Saskatchewan in the Masters division at the same event. Justin is from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and lives now in Saskatoon. As a player, he represented Canada in Pardubice, Czech Republic, in 2017. “I’m very passionate about ball hockey, says d’Entremont, and I am excited to help this team win gold at the 2020 masters world championships.”
