Junior Team Canada Support Staff Announcement - U16 West & U16 East
2018-01-01It is with great pride that the CBHA announces U16 (West & East) Junior Team Canada...
On behalf of Gary Slavin, General Manager of the U16 Junior Team Canada program. Join us in congratulating our Junior Team Canada U16 Support Staff. The staff will be working hard over the coming months to prepare to “Go for Gold” this year at the 2018 ISBHF U16 World Cup in Zlin & Prerov, Czech Republic - June 28th to July 1st, 2018.
Brendan Mooney
U16 West Athletic Therapist
Brendan is a Certified Athletic Therapist that is currently working with the Guelph Storm OHL team that sees him on a daily basis assessing, treating and rehabilitating all injuries to the players. He also works at BioSteel as both an Athletic Therapist and Strength Coach, implementing and developing rehabilitation and strength programs with the professional hockey players, from associations such as the NHL, AHL, KHL, OHL & NCAA in their off-season.
Some of his other experiences include working for the Toronto Raptors (NBA) and Toronto Argonauts (CFL) but his true passion has always been for hockey. Brendan continues to learn and develop his skills and has just recently finished his courses to become a Registered Massage Therapist and as well has First Responder credentials. He is looking forward to his first trip with the CBHA Junior Team Canada program and assisting in preparing the players for competition.
Andrew Koch
U16 West Equipment Manager
Andrew Koch graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Kinesiology. He is currently in his third season with the Winnipeg Jets (NHL) organization, primarily serving as their Dressing Room Assistant with a half season as an Assistant Equipment Manager on the Manitoba Moose (AHL). He has previously worked as an Equipment Manager with Hockey Canada (2017 U17 Male and 2016/2017 U18 Female selection camps), Southeast Prairie Thunder (2015/2016 Allan Cups), Hockey Manitoba (2012/2013 U18 Female Nationals, 2015 Canada Winter Games), University of Manitoba Female Hockey Team (2012-2015) and Floorball Canada (2013 U19 Male World Championships). Andrew is looking forward to working with everyone on the U16 West Junior Team Canada hockey team this upcoming summer.
Justin Parsons
U16 Physiotherapist
Justin is currently employed as a Physiotherapist for WorkSafe NB specializing in treating chronic injuries and mild traumatic brain injuries (concussions). Prior to this he worked for 7 years in a busy private practice setting with a focus on treating young athletes. Justin has also worked as a rehabilitation consultant with the Saint John Sea Dogs (QJMHL), prior to that was the Head Therapist for the Saint John Midget AAA program from 2008-2011.
Justin was the Physiotherapist for CBHA Womens Team Canada (gold medal winners) at the 2015 ISBHF World Championships as well as the JTC U16 (gold medal winners) in 2016 at the worlds in Sheffield, England. Justin graduated with his Masters in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2008 and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics from St. FX in 2005. Away from work and sports Justin enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children and has recently began serving as a volunteer firefighter in his community.
Alex Ryan
U16 East Equipment Manager
Alex Ryan is currently in his fourth season as the Equipment Manager for the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men of U Sports, where he has been a member of two Atlantic Conference Championship teams and was a National Silver Medalist in 2016. He is also heavily involved in Hockey New Brunswick’s High Performance Program, working with their Male U-16 team and will be attending the Canada Winter Games in February 2019 with their U-18 female team. Along with Hockey New Brunswick, Alex represented Atlantic Canada as the Equipment Manager of Team Atlantic Female U-18 at the National U-18 Women’s Championship in November 2017. Alex has also worked with the Halifax Mooseheads and Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) as an Assistant and Interim Equipment Manager. Alex looks forward to working with the East team in Czech Republic.
