CBHA High Performance Names 2018 General Managers

2017-07-04

CBHA HP is proud to announce that four ISBHF World Champions are returning to the fold as General Managers for our National Team programs in 2018.

The CBHA Junior program will be led by Norm Spitzer of Alberta and Gary Slavin of British Columbia.  Both these gentleman have been entrenched with our JTC program for years, and stood out among candidates in our selection process.  And we are proud to announce that they will be returning in 2018.

Norm Spitzer is coming off leading our Junior’s in a highly successful and historical haul in Sheffield, UK in 2016 as GM, and will be leading our U-20 & U-18 players at the 2018 ISBHF World Junior Championships in Canada.

Gary Slavin is returning as a GM, with our new U-16 program.  He will be leading Team Canada East and Team Canada West at the 2018 ISBHF U-16 World Cup in the Czech Republic.  Both of these gentlemen will lead our program based on the HP Core Values.  Players will be scouted by a High Performance Scouting team and will work with the GM’s and the HP Director to select the 88 players who will represent Canada in 2018.

Our CBHA Master players will be led by two GM’s who have won Gold at this level in the past at the ISBHF.

Sara Hayward of New Brunswick will return once again to lead our Women’s Master Program in 2018, and to defend Canada’s crown.

In addition Francois Chalut of Quebec will lead the Men’s Master Program and see if Canada can return to the Golden podium as they did in 2014 under his leadership.

Both these GM’s will be working to build their rosters for the ISBHF World Masters to be held in USA in 2018.  And will be hard at work to build and scout players for the 2018 World Masters.

CBHA President Steve Power stated “That the CBHA is very proud to have these experienced General Managers lead our players into continuing our World Success in 2018.  These GM’s are all schooled in our highly successful HP Principles and will strive to continue our role as a World leader in this sport”.

High Performance is proud to have the following roster and team of excellent General Managers leading our National Teams, helping our players grow on the International stage and working with the Core Values to build a strong National Program in carefully selecting Players, Coaches and Support Staff on these credo’s.  Leading a unified program which is built on the same fundamental principles and creates a platform for players to seamlessly go through our National Team program from, Junior,  to Senior,  to Master National team players.  Our HP National GM Roster as of this date:

Jeff Dzikowicz, Manitoba – Men’s Team Canada GM
Norm Spitzer, Alberta – U20 & U18 GM
Gary Slavin, British Columbia – U16 Team Canada East & West GM
