CBHA Congratulates U15 West Coast Express for Gold Performance in Plzen!

Canadian club team goes perfect 6 and 0 against teams from three countries!
Recently, a group of twenty talented U15 ball hockey players from West Coast Express made the journey to Plzen, Czech Republic to compete at the 2016 U15 Plzen Cup - a great opportunity for young Canadian ball hockey players to see the world, play skilled 'club' teams from other countries and challenge themselves.
“I’m very proud of all 58 members that made this trip from players, to parents and siblings – it was not only a great ball hockey tournament but an exciting family vacation for all,” said Gary Slavin, Head Coach and Organizer of the West Coast Express Program.
The West Coast Express team went a perfect 5 and 0 in the round robin over host Plzen HBC 3-1. Express started the second day with a 10-0 win over the Czech National team, then came out on top 4-1 over the Gajary Flames from Slovakia. West Coast Express took the last game on Saturday 10-0 over the German club team.
Sunday saw the Express finished their round robin with a win over TJ Blatna 4-0 early in the day, and a finals rematch of WCE and Plzen HBC, where West Coast solidified their gold position with only two-seconds left in the game.
Says Slavin, “I look forward to next year as we are invited back to defend the title! I know the event organizers are already working with Switzerland, Great Britain and Poland on making the tourney eight teams strong for 2017!".
