2016 Masters Team Canada is Announced!
2016-02-18Sara Hayward, General Manager of Women’s Masters Team Canada together with Francois Chalut, General Manager of Men’s Masters Team Canada take great pride in announcing the Masters Team Canada roster for 2016!
Of particular note, the Women’s Roster for 2016 include ten players returning from the 2014 world champion team and thirteen new players from across Canada.
Says GM Sara Hayward, “I am extremely satisfied to see the growth of this program. We had almost triple the number of applicants compared to 2014. Team selection was a challenging task with so much talent from across the country. I am confident our 2016 squad are ambassadors of the sport and will rise to the occasion in Banff to defend our world championship.”
Says GM of the Men's Masters Team Canada team, "It's an honour to announce the Masters Team Canada's 25-man roster for the World Championship in Banff. The experience I had in Tampa Bay in 2014 together with competing with and against so many good players at the first CBHA Nationals Masters championship in Ottawa in August 2015, has enabled us to form this elite group. With so many great candidates, every decision was an important and tough one. I would like to congratulate these twenty-five outstanding athletes on their selection to Team Canada. I would like to congratulate at the same time all the other players that were considered - the calibre we had to choose from made these decisions so tough - especially given our eleven World Champ winners from 2014".
Chalut continues, "Becoming World Champions in Tampa Bay was a thrill of a lifetime. As we all know, defending a title is always extremely hard but I am positive that everyone in our group has everything needed to leave Banff with a gold medal around their necks!"
The ISBHF 2016 World Masters Men’s and Women’s Ball Hockey Championships are being held in Banff, Alberta June 1st-5th, 2016.
