Francois Chalut named as General Manager of Masters Mens Team Canada
2015-09-22Vancouver, BC, September 22, 2015– It is with great pride that the CBHA announces the appointment of Francois Chalut to the role of GM, Masters Team Canada for a second term.
With the excitement of the Canadian Ball Hockey Association's (CBHA) 2015 National Championships now over, the Organization has moved into a forward planning phase, and is active in preparations and administration for the upcoming season.
Two significant events in 2016 will have all eyes focused in Team Canada once again, with the fourth bi-annual ISBHF Men’s and Women’s Masters Ball Hockey Championships being held on home-soil in Banff, AB in the Spring of 2016, closely followed by the 2016 ISBHF World Junior Ball Hockey Championship which will be held in Sheffield, Great Britain - July 6 to 12, 2016.
Consequently, it is with great pride that the CBHA announces the appointment of Francois Chalut to the role of GM, Masters Team Canada for a second term.
"AS CBHA High Performance Director I am proud to once again name Francois Chalut of Quebec to lead our Team Canada National Masters Team towards Gold in Banff, Alberta in June of 2016. Francois embodies the CBHA Core Values of High Performance, and is a great choice to lead our players towards Gold again in 2016", says CBHA High Performance Director George Gortsos.
Francois has storied experience leading Team Canada to Gold and knows that competition becomes stronger at every World Masters event. Further, he has impressed the CBHA leadership not only with his past successes, but with his commitment to the future that his undertaking will be to build a team, with players from BC to Newfoundland, as powerful as the defending champs.
“It is an honor to be named for the second time as GM of Masters Team Canada. I am very proud of the accomplishment of our team in Tampa Bay, in 2014. We built a family very fast, we grew and progressed together through the Championship to win the gold medal. I am more than ready for that challenge and I feel that my first experience as a GM has given me all that I need to lead Canada to its second gold medal”, says Chalut. “I would like to thank George Gortsos, Shelley Callaghan and every member of CBHA for the nomination and the trust they have in me. It was a tough journey to win in the USA but it is sometimes even harder to defend a title. But like I said two years ago, when you wear the leaf on your uniform, the goal is not to be great or excellent, it is to bring home the gold....or to keep it on home soil!”.
The CBHA congratulates Francois and will ensure he has every support necessary to enable the Master’s Team Canada team to perform at their best in the Spring.
