CBHA Announces Appointment of Gary Slavin as Team Canada Logistics Coordinator
2015-07-13Gary Slavin will take the position of Team Canada Logistics Coordinator for the Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA) for a two year term.
Says High Performance Director, George Gortsos of the CBHA's most recent appointment, "On behalf of the CBHA's High Performance Program and all our member Provinces, I am couldn't be more pleased that someone of Gary Slavin's calibre, pedigree and experience will be adding his talents to our National Team program.".
With a storied history in the sport of ball hockey spanning 27 years, Gary Slavin has played contributing roles in a multitude of different areas of the game - as a player (Gary is a goaltender), as a coach and in executive leadership roles. Now, in his most recent appoinment, Gary will take the position of Team Canada Logistics Coordinator for the Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA).

Now, in his most recent appoinment, Gary will take the position of Team Canada Logistics Coordinator for the Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA).
Gary has a long standing relationship with the CBHA and Team Canada specifically, having provided outstanding service to the Junior Team Canada program since 2007. He has four World Junior Championship Events to his credit, in addition to his role as General Manager with an Ontario Masters team at the 2010 World Championships in Bratislava.
Gary is a resident of British Columbia and for the last twelve years has filled the role of Provincial Program Director. This role has required him to travel extensively, and arrange end-to-end logistics for team travel for eleven Junior National events. Most recently, Gary was responsible for ensuring a men's team made it with all kit in tow to the Plzen Cup in Czech Republic.
"I am thrilled with being appointed as the Team Canada Logistics Coordinator," says Slavin. " I have a sincere desire to continue contributing to the sport and program that I love. I look forward to developing the overall Team Canada program with the CBHA during the two years of my appointment and doing what I can to help Team Canada attain the recognition their skills warrant throughout the country and on the world stage".
When asked about his goals and objectives for the Team Canada Logitics Coordinator role, Gary says he just wants to produce a fantastic experience both on- and off- the floor for all our players from Juniors to Masters.
"I want to help our players to succeed at their sport when they are on the road, as well as making it possible for them to experience the culture and characteristics of countries we travel to. It means alot to me that players have a thouroughly great experience - one that they can be proud of their entire lives.".
Says CBHA High Performance Diretor George Gortsos, "Gary's attention to detail, his focus on finding solutions, his knowledge of travel challenges, and his ability to deliver an informative package to our athletes will add a level of professionalism to the whole National team experience for both players and staff. Gary will work closely with team General Manager's, and I am very pleased to welcome him to Team Canada as our Logistics Coordinator.
